Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) is setting ambitious targets for the next decade, aiming for 1.2 million annual sales and a 20% market share by FY31. Chairman N. Chandrasekaran emphasized a 10x growth strategy, highlighting the company's evolution since FY20, where it has seen a fivefold increase in volume and a sixfold rise in revenue.1234

The company’s market share has surged from 4.8% to 14.2% in the first quarter of FY27, positioning TMPV as India’s second-largest passenger vehicle manufacturer. In FY26, TMPV reported record sales of 6.42 lakh units, a 15.3% year-on-year increase, with revenues rising 20.7% to ₹58,465 crore.
Chandrasekaran outlined plans for six new nameplates and over 20 product refreshes, with a significant focus on electric vehicles (EVs), aiming for EVs to constitute over 30% of total sales by FY31. The company has already achieved 300,000 cumulative EV sales and aims to maintain its leadership in the EV market, having sold 34,467 EVs in Q1 FY27, a 112% increase year-on-year.5
The recent operationalization of the TMPV-JLR facility in Tamil Nadu is a key milestone in this growth trajectory, enhancing operational and technological integration with Jaguar Land Rover. Chandrasekaran noted that the demerger of passenger and commercial vehicle businesses marks a decisive step towards building a future-ready, world-class personal mobility enterprise.
