Subrahmanyan, the centre is strategically located due to Kolkata's strong academic institutions and talent pool. LTM CEO Venu Lambu emphasized that the centre will harness local talent to deliver AI-led solutions for global customers.34
The initiative aligns with LTM's AI 1000 initiative, which aims to develop over 1,000 AI-certified engineers. In the June 2026 quarter, LTM's pure AI revenue reached a $150 million quarterly run rate, accounting for approximately 12% of its total revenue.56
Adhikari noted, “West Bengal is emerging as a preferred destination for technology and AI-driven investments,” highlighting the state's strengths in talent and innovation. He also mentioned the need for additional land for future expansion, indicating the government's support for LTM's growth in the region.
The centre will serve as a hub for collaboration and technology innovation, contributing to West Bengal's economic growth and technology ecosystem. Subrahmanyan stated that the centre reflects L&T Group's commitment to investing in high-potential regions, fostering inclusive economic development.
LTM plans to continue investing in regional centres and digital infrastructure as it expands its AI operations across India.
