Experts from IIT, AIIMS, OpenAI lead panel on inclusive AI innovations in Bengaluru

Bengaluru is set to host a landmark conference titled ‘AI for Empowering PwDs’ on May 30, 2025, focusing on the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in developing inclusive, accessible, and assistive technologies for persons with disabilities (PwDs).

Organized by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), the day-long event will feature a special address by Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary of DEPwD, alongside noted academicians including Prof. P.V.M. Rao of IIT Delhi and Prof. Venu Govindaraju from the University at Buffalo, USA.

The conference will showcase key initiatives such as Mission AI Accessibility, aimed at implementing AI in assistive technology and tools to empower PwDs. Other significant launches include the National Disability Support AI Chat Bot and the Unified Benefits Interface (UBI), designed to streamline access to disability benefits.

Panel discussions themed ‘Innovations for an Inclusive India’ will bring together experts from prestigious institutions like IIT, AIIMS, OpenAI, Anuvadini, CSIO, Sarvam AI, and Karya Inc., fostering collaboration to drive inclusive AI innovations.

This event underscores the growing commitment to leveraging AI for social empowerment, aiming to create a more accessible and inclusive society for persons with disabilities through cutting-edge technology and collaborative efforts.
