Chennai police arrest Uber bike taxi rider for creating obscene AI video of teen

Chennai police have arrested J Joe Richard, a 28-year-old Uber bike taxi rider, for creating an obscene AI-generated video of a 19-year-old woman from Manipur. The arrest occurred after the victim reported receiving a threatening message from a fake Instagram account.

The complainant, who works in a beauty salon, had developed a friendship with Richard during multiple rides. Last September, she booked a bike taxi through Uber, and Richard was assigned to her. Police stated that their interactions led to a friendship, which took a dark turn when the victim received the morphed video.

The video depicted her face superimposed onto another body in an explicit context, and the sender threatened to circulate it on social media. Richard was produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.
