- This initiative aligns with national missions such as the National Quantum Mission and India Semiconductor Mission.
Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced the establishment of India's first dedicated Quantum and AI University campus in Amaravati, a project by the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT). The campus will be built on an 8.5-acre site with a total investment of ₹730.7 crore funded entirely by the Government of India over five years.12
Classes and skill development programs are scheduled to begin in September 2026 at a temporary facility at Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur, while the permanent campus is under construction. The university will offer a range of programs including undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, diploma, and executive courses in fields such as Quantum Computing, AI, Data Science, and VLSI.569
A significant feature of the campus will be the Quantum Research, Innovation and Incubation Block, covering approximately 1.25 lakh square feet. This facility will include advanced infrastructure for quantum computing, communication, and semiconductor technologies, aimed at fostering research and innovation.7810

The project is expected to train around 8,250 learners over five years, with 1,650 through formal degree programs and 6,600 through skilling and certification initiatives. NIELIT plans to collaborate with institutions like IIT Tirupati and Andhra University to enhance academic offerings and research capabilities.11
This initiative aligns with national missions such as the National Quantum Mission and India Semiconductor Mission, aiming to position Amaravati as a hub for deep-tech talent and innovation.12
“The 8.5-acre campus, funded by a Rs 730.7 crore MeitY grant, will train 8,250 learners over five years. It will feature a 1.25 lakh sq ft Quantum Research Block and partner with IIT Tirupati, IIIT Sri City, Andhra University, and JNTU.”
